Pressure Systems Inspection Services (PSSR 2000)
At Compressor Care NW Ltd, we offer complete Pressure Systems Inspection Services to help you meet your legal obligations under the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR) 2000. Ensuring the safety, reliability, and compliance of your compressed air equipment is critical for protecting your workforce, safeguarding operations, and avoiding costly downtime or legal penalties.
Our fully qualified team carries out vessel examinations, ultrasonic and hydrostatic testing, and provides Written Schemes of Examination, offering complete support for your pressure systems.
Pressure Vessel Examination
A pressure vessel examination assesses the structural integrity, safety, and functionality of a pressurised vessel and its associated components.
Elements inspected during an examination include:
- Pressure vessel (receiver)
- Safety valves
- Pressure gauges
- Other key orifices and fittings
A thorough test process is carried out to certify vessels for continued use:
- Pressure vessels must be examined at least every 26 months
- Safety valves and pressure gauges require inspection every 14 months
Examinations are performed by competent, certified examiners using ultrasonic testing and hydrostatic testing methods. These ensure the vessel’s integrity and highlight any potential issues before they become critical.
It is important to note that compressors often house internal air/oil receivers, which may also fall under the requirements of pressure testing depending on their size and capacity.
To help protect the lifespan and performance of compressed air receivers, we recommend the fitment of automatic condensate drains and the inclusion of bypass valves during system construction.
Written Scheme of Examination (WSE)
A Written Scheme of Examination is a legally required document that outlines the components of a pressurised system that require inspection. It covers:
- Compressors and associated plant
- Pipework systems
- End-use compressed air equipment
The written scheme evaluates every pressurised element of the system, ensuring that inspections are carried out correctly and at the right intervals. It also identifies any safety concerns and recommends necessary upgrades to protect equipment and maintain compliance.
Key features of our Written Scheme of Examination services:
- Full schedule of all system components, including serial numbers
- Assessment of pipework integrity, checking for sagging, hogging, and insecure bracketing
- Inspection of hose reels, trailing hoses, and fittings for safety
- Certification issued on completion to demonstrate compliance
By working with Compressor Care NW Ltd, you can be confident that your equipment and compressed air systems meet the highest safety standards.
